Former Coronation Street star Steven Arnold is on his way to Hartlepool.
The actor best known for his role as butcher’s son Ashley Peacock will be visiting the town on July 5.
He will be appearing at Hartlepool Town Theatre in a new musical about cinema icon Charlie Chaplin where he will play his brother.
The show will focus on Chaplins relationship with his mother, who after being admitted to an asylum, was forced to put her sons into the workhouse.
‘Chaplin – The Charlie Chaplin Story’ weaves through Chaplin’s modest and troubled childhood growing up in the gutters of Victorian London.
It also charts his early career on the Vaudeville stage, through the primitive years of early Hollywood and finishes with Chaplin making the breakthrough which made him a household name – in ‘The Kid.’
The creative team behind the show includes multi-award winning writer Stuart Price and hit single writer Jake Field as composer.
Arnold will be joined on stage by Rachael Wood from ‘Emmerdale’, Helena Gullan from ‘Once’ on London’s West End and a cast of six West End actor-musicians who play over 20 instruments live on stage.
The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost £13, or £12 for concessions.
