SALVAGE workers were today continuing their efforts to try to save a partially-sunk trawler which is grounded at South Shields.
Engineers have been inspecting the Grenaa Star, which has been stranded off Littlehaven Beach since Tuesday after smashing into south Tyne Pier.
The 46-tonne boat, which suffered damage to her bow and began taking in water, has remained beached after numerous attempts to refloat her failed due to problems with the tide.
It is feared the Hartlepool registered-vessel may be stranded until Christmas, when the tides will turn and allow her to be dragged up the beach.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested and bailed by police on suspicion of being a master, pilot or seaman unfit through drink.
