A CHARITY is thinking ahead to the winter months as temperatures soar.
Age UK Durham County is making sure older people get affordable gas once the cold weather arrives.
It has arranged for its customers throughout the county to receive additional cold weather payments of £83,260.
Age UK Enterprises, the commercial services arm of Charity Age UK, and E.ON are nationally issuing a Cold Weather Payment pay out totalling more than £5.6m.
It will be awarded to gas customers on E.ON’s Age UK Energy2 tariffs.
Gordon Morris, managing director of Age UK Enterprises, said: “We know that the cost of keeping warm in winter can be a concern to people in later life.
“That’s why, with the support of E.ON, we give all our gas customers an additional cold weather payment on top of the Government’s payment to offer them a little extra support when they need it most.
“This year, our Age UK gas customers in Durham County will receive an extra £83,260 from the total of £5.6m which equates to £20 per household on average.”
