POLICE have praised officers after seeing a fall in crime across Cleveland of nine per cent.
Crime in Hartlepool has fallen by four per cent in the last year, with falls in the number of robberies, thefts of motor vehicles, criminal damage and fraud.
The figures released by Cleveland Police for between April last year and the end of last month also showed that the number of drug-related cases in the town has fallen by 22 per cent in the 12-month period.
Hartlepool Police have seen violent crime drop by almost seven per cent and there was a 19 per cent fall in cases of theft of motor vehicles or taking vehicles without consent (TWOC).
Overall the number of recorded incidents in the town has fallen from 7,664 in 2009-10 to 7,356 in the last year.
