GENEROUS nature reserve staff and volunteers raised nearly £500 for Hartlepool & District Hospice.
Colleagues at the Castle Eden Dene branch of Natural England organised a Christmas Festival in support of the Wells-Avenue based facility and Forget Me Nots, a charity aimed at supporting bereaved parents who lost a baby during pregnancy or at birth.
More than 500 visitors enjoyed crafts activities, tombolas, raffles and refreshments and help to raise £484 for both causes.
Sandra Britten, director of information and governance at the hospice, said: “The hospice is a local charity supporting the local community.
“It is help from the local community in raising funds that enables us to continue to care for our patients.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in the Christmas festival for their efforts and support.”
Janice Forbes, hospice events and community facilitator, added: ““We would like to thank the staff and volunteers from Castle Eden Dene for choosing our charity to be one of the beneficiaries of their Christmas Festival, and it’s wonderful that they were able to use their celebrations to support us.”
“I hope everyone had a lovely time.
“The money will be used to fund out vital specialist care services which we provide free of charge to the local community.”
