Final push for brave runner Lee Dodgson

Lee Dodgson is hoping to complete his incredible 827 -mile run from Land’s End to John O’Groats today.

The Hartlepool man in on his 20th day of running for the amazing feat to raise £40,000 for Alice House Hospice.

His constant support on the journey has been Kevin Fincken, who said: “It’s starting to get emotional now as we near the finishing line and the enormity of the achievement starts to dawn on us all.

“Keep up with the daily comments and please continue your support to help Lee raise 40k for Alice House Hospice.”

Lee, 31, is bidding to run 827 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats and is expected to complete his mega mission today.

He will then travel back to the North East, and his wife Claire, 40, is arranging for him to get an incredible welcome tomorrow.

She is calling for people to either gather at the bottom entrance to Crimdon Dene at 2pm and run the last mile into town with Lee, or to welcome him when he arrives at Hartlepool Rugby Club.

A spokesman for the hospice said: “It’s been incredible following the story of Lee’s incredible challenge, charting the highs and lows as he has pushed himself to the physical and emotional limits in aid of patient care.

“He’s inspired people from all around the country and we have never known a story spread as far and wide as this has.
“The response we have seen is both remarkable and unprecedented.

“As ever, we wish him the best of luck for his final push and thank him, his team and all of his kind supporters for everything they have done. 
“We look forward to welcoming him home.”
