FIREFIGHTERS were called to extinguish a blaze in a house.

Two fire engines from Stranton Fire Station went to the fire which had broken out in the empty property in Richardson Street, in the town centre of Hartlepool.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a water jet to extinguish the flames which had ignited at the front of the mid-terraced house.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said the fire broke out just before 1am on Monday, December 2.

She said: “Crews were called to a report of an empty property in Richardson Street.

“The front of the house was alight and two appliances attended.

“The ground and first floor of the property were well alight.”
