Firm to tak on 12 new apprentices

IT and services provider Northgate Public Services will recruit a dozen new apprentices this year, the company announced during an event for National Apprenticeship Week.

The apprentices will receive training that includes IT, business administration, finance and logistics, giving them the skills and training needed to thrive in today’s work environment.

They will join 19 existing apprentices and 230 employees working at the Northgate Public Services Hartlepool business hub.

The apprenticeship scheme is run in partnership with the Hartlepool College of Further Education and Hartlepool Borough Council.

Anthony Singleton, executive director for services, Northgate Public Services, said: “We’re huge believers in apprenticeships. It’s an absolute pleasure to see the talent and potential of these young people realised, see them blossom in confidence and skill and become future leaders. Apprenticeships also mean increased productivity for our business, better staff retention and it creates the skilled workforce that will drive our business in decades to come.”

Coun Christopher Akers-Belcher, the leader of the council, said: “The creation of apprenticeships was part of the deal which saw Northgate Public Services create its Regional Business Centre in Hartlepool in 2014 and enter into a seven year agreement to deliver IT services for the Council. Already, Northgate has exceeded its job creation and apprenticeship targets which is great news and a real boost to the local economy.”
