Five days of celebration for Hartlepool church on its diamond anniversary

A church will mark its 60th anniversary with a series of celebrations in Hartlepool.

And here is the full line-up of events which will be held next month at West View Baptist Church in the town.

Spokesman David Butler said: “This September, West View Baptist Church is marking 60 years as a church on the West View estate, Hartlepool with a series of special events.”

David said the series would include “displays of photographs, memorabilia and stories from people who have been connected with the church over those 60 years.”

The programme will run from Wednesday, September 7, to Sunday, September 11.

l Wednesday, September 7, from 3pm to 6pm - The Big Reunion.

David explained what it was all about and said: “Do you remember being at guides, brownies? Were you part of the Sunday School way back? We’d love to see you at our reunion event.”

l Thursday, September 7, and Friday, September 9, from 3pm to 7pm; and Saturday, September 10, from 10am to 1pm - Cafe and exhibition.

David urged people to “pop in for a cuppa and cake. Explore the our story exhibition and take a peek at our newly refurbished building.”

l Friday, September 9, from 7pm to 9pm - the Youth Quiz Night.

Interested people are being urged to come along in teams of four or five people, or come along in lesser numbers and “we’ll find you a team,” said David.

l Saturday, September 10, from 4pm to 7pm - A barbecue and family fun event is planned.

David said: “Come and join the fun. All are welcome.”

l Sunday, September 11 at 10.30am - A celebration service.

David said: “Join us for a special service with guest Rev Malcolm Patten.”

The Mail has featured some of the highlights of the 60 years history of the church in the last week and told how it had developed into a centre which included outreach projects, rallies, and summer camps.
