A TALENTED Hartlepool teenager will soon make her debut on the big screen after landing a major part in a new movie.

Fifteen-year-old Fleur Houdijk appears in the street dancing film All Stars alongside actor and presenter John Barrowman and Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh.

The film, shot in 3D, is due out in cinemas nationwide this spring.

Fleur is currently studying at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London and has already starred in West End musicals Billy Elliott and Matilda.

She landed the role of Amy over other girls after impressing producers during a series of auditions.

Fleur said: “It was an experience. It was definitely very different to musicals but I really enjoyed it.

“The film is about a youth centre that’s threatened with demolition so two boys organise a street dance battle to raise money for it and my character Amy is part of that group.”

The dance crew members they find are a band of misfits but who come together with a common love of dancing.

Fleur’s character is a martial arts tomboy and had to learn taekwondo for the role.

Her dad in the film is played by BBC presenter and Torchwood actor Barrowman.

Fleur, of Clavering, said: “He is amazing. We have this big black and white fantasy dance scene.”

Other famous faces in the movie include Extras and Ugly Betty actress Ashley Jensen, Outnumbered actor Hugh Dennis, and Theo Stevenson from Horrid Henry The Movie.

Makers Vertigo films said: “The result is a funny and spectacular rollercoaster ride through East London and the crazy world of kids’ imaginations.”

Fleur’s proud mum Sharon Cook, a mental health nurse, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing the film. I’ve got to get my frock for the premiere.

“It’s an achievement for her and Hartlepool. Not many people have been in musicals and a movie by the age of 14.

“But she is so grounded. When Fleur comes home for weekends we have duvet days.”

Fleur’s former dance teacher Val Armstrong added: “What Fleur has achieved in such a short period of time is testament to her attitude, approach and love of what she does so naturally.

“Fleur has always been a joy to teach and I am immensely proud of her and I know this is just the beginning for this very talented young lady.”
