Foam parties and fun times.

They were the memories which came flooding back when we asked you to reflect on your days at the Wesley in Hartlepool.

We showed a 1993 photograph of the town centre venue being renovated in a City Challenge Project and we asked: “Who remembers the nightclub and leisure club?”

Ten thousand of you did on social media and, encouragingly, shared your thoughts.

Claire Brackstone said: “Lots of fun memories from that place” while Michelle Cross told us: “Loved the Wesley. 42nd Street was still my fav xxx”

Chris Kenny said; “Remember it? We’ll never forget it, loved it” while Louise Metcalfe went even further and said: “Was the best place to go. Wish it was still open!! Foam parties and cheap nights in the best thing.”

Lisa Bell agreed and said: “Those were the days of the best nights out in this town. Loved it.”

Danielle Louise Mann adored the place as well and Stephen Harmison said he had “many a great night in there.”

Kelly Day loved the Wesley but also had memories of tricky steps especially when she had “6 inch heels” on.

Sarah Neil loved Thursday nights at the Wesley and added: “Also love the bottle bar too.”

Ronnie Williams told us: “Plenty of quality nights in this place foam parties” while Alan Jardine remembered: “Good night it was in them days.”

Simon Harrow commented: “Had some right times in there like.”

But Elizabeth Chisholm went back even further to the days when the Wesley was a chapel.

She said she “sang in the choir in 1955” and she was not the only worshipper to get in touch.

Katherine Yarrow said: “I was in the choir too, as a teenager. Enjoyed the youth club and the youth fellowship too. X”
