Four people rescued after boat suffers 'mechanical failure' off Hartlepool coast
Four people had to be rescued by RNLI volunteers after the boat they were in suffered mechanical failure.
Hartlepool RNLI were tasked at 9.49pm last night by Humber Coastguard to assist a small three metre boat that had broken down near Steetley Pier, Hartlepool.
The inshore lifeboat launched at 10pm and was on scene with the casualty vessel a few minutes later.
The small boat with four people on board was escorted to the beach near Parton Rocks at the Headland where those on the boat were placed ashore and met by the local Coastguard team.
Lifeboat operations manager Chris Hornsey said: "Once again a rapid response from our volunteer crew members brought the incident to a safe conclusion."
The inshore lifeboat returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station at 10.30pm and was refuelled and made ready for service by 10.45pm
