Four people taken to hospital after A19 crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision which left four people needing hospital treatment.

The collision took place at around 10.40pm on Monday on the A19 junction with the A139 at Norton.

The four occupants of the Citreon Picasso, a 44-year-old male driver and three female passengers, two aged 12 and one aged 13, were taken to James Cook University Hospital.

All are from the Whitley Bay area.

One of the 12-year-old girls remains in a stable condition in hospital with a fractured spine and internal injuries.

All other occupants of the vehicle were released from hospital following treatment, having suffered from injuries including cuts and bruising.
