Frankie & Benny's have confirmed their new restaurant in Hartlepool will be on the town's Anchor Retail Park.
The Mail reported earlier how the Italian-American diner was coming to Hartlepool and that it was understood it was moving into the former Burger King building on the retail park on Marina Way.
Today, Frankie & Benny's confirmed the Anchor Retail Park is the site for the new premises.
It is not yet known how many jobs the new venture will create, but it is expected to open to customers either late this year or early next year.
Work has been happening at the former Burger King for the last few weeks after Hartlepool Borough Council granted planning permission last year for an extension and other alterations.
The council said it understands Frankie & Benny's to be the new occupiers of the stand alone building.
The burger franchise closed 12 months ago, just a year after it bailiffs moved in to repossess the premises.
Other recent changes to the retail park include clothes store TK Maxx opening in the former Comet store, a refurbishment of Next, and Marks & Spencer relocating from Middleton Grange as a food only store but with new cafe.
