‘Full Monty’ for charity

PUB regulars will be getting their kit off for a good cause at a “Full Monty” charity night at a Hartlepool bar tomorrow.

Ian Humberston, landlord of The Nursery pub, on Hopps Street, in the town, has roped in four of the regulars to join him on stage to recreate the famous stripping scene from the popular film to raise cash for research into cancer.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, are £5 on the door and include a turn by comedy magician Andy Booth as well as a disco and karaoke.

Organiser Katy Bell, whose partner Jonathan Young is one of the Full Monty performers for the night, along with Nursery regulars Peter Wilson, Gary Bostock and Noel Brant, has been watching the un-dress rehersals and says the evening should be a stripping success.

Katy said: “To be honest, they’re not really the kind of blokes you want to see with their kit off, but they’re all great sports and the night is for such a good cause.”

The strippers have already been pledged around £800 in sponsorship for their performance, and hope to beat the £1,000 barrier from ticket sales and donations on the night.

Proceeds will be split evenly between Ward 8 at the University Hospital, and Hartlepool & District Hospice.
