Fairground rides, an Easter egg trail and craft workshops are just some of the activities taking place at the park on Sunday, April 5 from 1pm until 4pm.
Chairman of the Friends of Ward Jackson Park which has organised the event, which is expected to attract crowds of people, said: “There is quite a bit going on as well as the Easter Egg hunt, which is also a drawing competition this year.
“The children have to go around and collect clues which tell them what to draw.
“There are four different age groups for the drawing competition, including a catergory for up to four years old, and then up in stages to 11-years-old.
“Everyone who participates gets a cream egg, and the winner of the drawing competition gets a big Easter egg.”
Jane said that there will also be an Easter egg tombola, and a raffle with prizes including, afternoon tea for two in The Place in The Park.
Hartlepool Borough Council’s Countryside and Wild Green Spaces Team will be holding a craft workshop to keep children occupied, as will a team called Wild Green Places.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds will also be going along to give out information and advice on birds and wildlife.
There will also be fairground rides on offer.
Jane said: “This is the 15th year and I think it’s a lovely tradition. The Easter Egg Hunt is good fun and we usually get a lot of people turn out even if the weather’s bad. One year we had freezing fog and snow, and people still came out which was lovely.”
She added: “We’re all excited and ready for the day just about. All money raised on the day will go back into the Friends of Ward Jackson Park for future events or improvements.”
A new picnic area will be officially unveiled during the event while formed Great Britain boxer Amanda Coulson will be making a VIP appearance.
Refreshments will also be on offer throughout the afternoon.
Kay Briggs, press officer for the Friends of Ward Jackson Park, who have organised this year’s Easter Eggstravaganza, said: “Everything is in place and it’s all set to be an absolutely fantastic day.
“We’ve got activities, events and games planned for all the family, all we need now is for the weather to be kind to us.
“We’re all really looking forward to it, it should be a brilliant afternoon.”
Youngsters will also get chance to meet the Easter Bunny in the park while prize draws and other competitions will also play a part in the fun event.
