YOUNGSTERS are being urged to take advantage of a range of events at children’s centres across Hartlepool.
Meeting some cuddly animals, a read and rhyme challenge, learning circus skills, a chance to try your hand at weaving and planting and some good old messy activity sessions are just some of what’s in store.
All the events are free and are open to Hartlepool children aged five and under and their families.
No booking is necessary.
On Tuesday, August 16, there will be a circus skills challenge at Rossmere Children’s Centre, in Rossmere Way, between 10am-11.30am.
Youngsters can try out their balancing skills plus have a go at weaving and planting.
On Friday, August 19, a rhyme time challenge – Hickory Dickory Dock – will be staged at Kingsley Children’s Centre, in Taybrooke Avenue, between 10am and 11.30am.
Youngsters, who are urged to wear old clothes for the messy session, can go along and learn a new rhyme and practice all their reading and memory skills.
Finally, on Saturday, August 20, Rossmere Children’s Centre, in Rossmere Way, will be hosting Summer Sizzler, between 10am-1pm.
Visitors can drop in for a host of family activities and join in on the craft stall.
Avis Brough, Sure Start south community involvement worker, said: “There’s something for everyone in our action-packed summer programme, with activities which are not only lots of fun but which also help youngsters to develop their physical and mental skills.”
