Organisers of a flagship event are putting their best foot forward to mark a milestone.
This year sees the 10th anniversay of Hartlepool & District Hospice’s Moonlight Walk, which will take place on September 17.
The annual sponsored event, which began life as the Midnight Walk in 2007, has raised more than £314,000 for local hospice care since it began.
Organisers are anticipating a big turnout for this special night of fun and celebrations and are hoping to meet previous walkers as well as welcoming newcomers to the event.
The Moonlight Walk sees women from throughout the region taking part, many in memory of loved ones.
Before setting off, the walkers will be entertained by Walter Barton of Deck One with a disco and hits from across the decades to get everyone in the party mood.
Julie Hildreth, senior fundraising manager at the hospice, said: “It is fantastic to have Walter to get the fun started, it’s going to be a brilliant atmosphere and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone on the night to celebrate the success of this fantastic event.”
Walkers will be welcomed at Hartlepool College of Further Education from 8pm; the walk begins at 10pm and follows a route along the sea front to Seaton Carew Golf Club and back.
Registration is £10 per person and includes a T-shirt, refreshments, medal and hot supper.
