Gang beat up man in street

POLICE are hunting a gang of youths who attacked a man with a stick in the street.

Teens as young as 14 are believed to have beaten a 33-year-old in Carrick Street, close to the junction with Davison Drive, in the West View area of Hartlepool.

Officers say the man was walking alone in the street when he was approached by four people aged 14 to 18.

Police say the group surrounded the man and launched an unprovoked attack, punching him before he fell to the floor.

The gang is then said to have hit the victim in the face with a stick or a bat.

The man was left with swelling to the left side of his face and a cut to his left cheek.

The suspects are described as being white and of slim-build, of average height and with short dark hair.

One of the gang was wearing a green and brown camouflage jacket.

The incident happened around 9.30pm on Wednesday, October 5.
