PEOPLE are being urged to get ready for an annual fundraising event.
Hartlepool RNLI’s volunteer crew member, Ken Hay, is leading this year’s fundraising campaign for the Hartlepool RNLI’s SOS community fundraising day on Friday, January 25.
This year’s idea is to fill a lifeboatman’s welly with donations that can be used to buy equipment for use by Hartlepool RNLI, which helps save lives at sea.
Volunteer Helmsman Ken Hay said: “The idea this year is to fill a welly with donations from schools and businesses throughout the area.
“I am available to do talks to schools or companies on Friday, January 25. Any organisation who would like me to visit them should contact Hartlepool Lifeboat Station on (01429) 266103 or Malcolm Wallis on 07538 006694 for further details.”
Mike Craddy, Hartlepool RNLI operations manager, said: “We had a great response to the RNLI’s Lifejacket Appeal last year and are grateful to all who made that fundraising campaign the success it was.
“We are keen to follow that up again this year and hope the people of Hartlepool and surrounding area will once again come and support our volunteer crew members.”
