HARTLEPOOL Stage Society gets ready for its pantomime

MORE details have been revealed of a Hartlepool society’s planned pantomime.

The Hartlepool Stage Society has already chosen the cast for its November production of The Wizard Of Oz, A Pantomime, and ticket details have now been finalised.

The production will be held at the Town Hall Theatre from Tuesday, November 4, to Saturday, November 8.

Each show will have a 7pm start and there will also be a Saturday matinee which starts at 2pm.

Tickets are £10 for the Tuesday performance. For each of the other shows, the cost is £12 for adults and £10 with concession.

Stage Society spokesman Sarah Barton said: “This year is the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz film, so Hartlepool Stage Society have decided to celebrate this by performing Wizard of Oz, the pantomime.

“This production will be brought up to date with modern songs, but die-hard fans won’t be disappointed as all of the old favourites are there too.”

The audience can expect all the hits, including Follow the Yellow Brick Road, The Merry Old Land of Oz, and not forgetting Over the Rainbow.

Sarah added: “The senior and junior societies have teamed up to produce this colourful spectacular, and we are even making our own scenery, thanks to our very talented backstage team.”

The show is the first that the society has held in which both the adult and junior sections will perform together.

The society has just marked its 60th year in existence. It was formerly known as the Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

It was based in Walmsley Hall which was in Osborne Road, in Hartlepool, before it outgrew the hall and needed to move on.

It then moved to the Throston Grange Community Centre, in Glamorgan Grove, where it started the “very successful junior society,” said Sarah.
