Girl freed from turnstile

FIREFIGHTERS had to free a 12-year-old girl whose arm got stuck in a turnstile.

A crew from Stranton Fire Station was called to Grayfields recreation ground, in Jesmond Road, Hartlepool, around 6.45pm, where the youngster became trapped.

Firefighters spent 15 minutes spreading the arms of the turnstile to free the girl.

Around 30 people were in the area at the time as the drama unfolded.

Paramedics assessed the youngster’s injuries, which were not thought to be serious, at the scene.

Her mother told ambulance staff she would take her to hospital to be checked over.
