Girls heading for glory after netting a hat trick

Rugby players are off to national finals after winning a tournament for the third year running.

The Academy at Shotton Hall under 15 girls' rugby team have triumphantly won the RFU All Schools Cup North East and Cumbria regional final for the third year running.

The girls won every one of their five, twenty-minute games in the final against, Penrith School, Queen Elizabeth High School, Prudhoe Community High School, Dyke House and

St Benet Biscop Catholic High School.

Stuart Clarke, the girls coach, said: “I am extremely proud of all of the girls. They have once again shown that hard work and dedication to training pays off.

"I must admit I didn’t think it would be possible to win for the third year running – but we did it.

"The girls are really pleased and are already raring to go for their next tournament.”

The team will now progress to the national finals where they will represent the north of England.
