A SUPER slimming coach has struck gold after helping more than 100 overweight people shed at total of 485 stones last year.
Weight loss expert Sarah Dickenson, who runs the HUFC Saturday Slimming World group, within the Centenary Suite of Hartlepool United Football Club’s Victoria Park, has been awarded Gold status by the national slimming club.
The accolade was given to the 33-year-old Slimming World consultant because of her success in supporting slimmers to reach their dream weight after they lost a total of 6,800lbs.
It is also handed out to slimming coaches who consistently have 100 or more members in their group over several months, showing that dieters return week after week because of the service provided and the weight lost.
The award represents the highest level of service in slimming and places Sarah, a mum-of-three who lives in the Bishop Cuthbert area of Hartlepool, in the top five per cent of the organisation’s 3,500 consultants nationwide, meaning Hartlepool is home to some of the best slimming support in the UK.
It’s the first time Sarah has been awarded the prize since becoming a consultant in 2009.
Sarah, who has been running the classes for six years, said: “I am delighted to have received the Gold award. I absolutely love my job, I’m passionate about helping people to transform their lives by losing weight and seeing them succeed is reward enough, but being given this recognition for the whole group really is the icing on the cake.
“This award belongs to the Saturday group’s 140 members.
“They’re the ones who make the success that it has with their fabulous commitment, the wonderful support they give each other every week, and, obviously, their impressive weight losses while following Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan.
“They make the group a fun, buzzy place to be and I can safely say I always look forward to going to work. I truly believe I have the best job in the world.”
She added: “The Hartlepool group has really put healthy weight loss on the map in Hartlepool. Together, they’ve lost an amazing 6,800lbs this year.
“Obesity is at record levels everywhere and with 30.6 per cent of adults in Hartlepool being affected, many people here are suffering a range of weight-related health problems from diabetes to heart problems and feelings of low self-worth that impact on their working and personal lives every day.
“It’s never been more important that overweight people get the support to make changes.”
