Hartlepool & District Hospice is celebrating the success of one of its most profitable fundraising events to date.
The annual Charity Golf Tournament, organised by Rob Hoskins of RK Consultancy, was held on September 18 at The Wynyard Club.
Twenty-four teams of four played in the prestigious, sell-out competition and raised a phenomenal £30,000 for the specialist care services provided by the hospice.
The day was sponsored by Drive Vauxhall, Fairway Contracts and Fine and Country Estate Agents, all of whom entered teams to play on the day.
Rob has organised 12 golf days for the hospice, and this year’s success took the overall total past the £100,000 mark.
In addition to a round of golf, the day included a number of additional competitions, spot prizes, dinner and presentation, raffle and auction with a selection of high quality prizes and signed sporting goods.
The competition was won by regulars Wynyard Concierge, with Document Solutions and Drive Vauxhall in second and third place respectively.
Staff members from the Hartlepool branch of Santander were also in attendance and helped organise the day’s fundraising, £3,500 of which will be matched by the bank.
Hospice chief executive Tracy Woodall was among the guests and handed out prizes. Tracy also took time to commend Rob on his contribution to the hospice, for which he received a standing ovation.
Hospice corporate fundraiser Greg Hildreth said: “Thanks to Rob’s hard work, planning and creativity, we have seen yet another record-breaking year at Wynyard, as well as exceeding £100,000.
“Thanks also to everyone who took part and showed such incredible generosity and warmth on the day.
“It was fantastic to have such high levels of sponsorship from businesses this year and great to have all of the sponsors involved on the day.”
Greg continued: “I would also like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone at the Wynyard Club for such wonderful hospitality and assistance in hosting the event.
“There are too many other key individuals to thank all of them here, but they know who they are and hopefully how much we value their kindness and support.
“At the hospice, we are proud to see this event as one of the key dates in the region’s golfing calendar.”
Rob added: “This year’s golf day went way beyond our expectations.
“With such great support from so many people and businesses we were able to beat all previous records and most importantly, provide support to patients and families accessing hospice care.
“As for the £100,000, I’d like to thank every single person who supported all of these events and helped us make them such a tremendous success.”
