GOLFERS help boost hospice coffers during a fundraising event.

The Hartlepool Beer & Wine Company annual charity golf day was held at Seaton Carew golf club to raise funds for Hartlepool & District Hospice.

The Usworth Road-based company has been loyal supporters of the hospice since 2009 and has held a series of events raising over £20,000 for hospice care.

Phil Gallagher, managing director at the company, said: “I would like to thank all the teams who took part and supported the charity on the day, the winning team was Alan Courtney & guests and a special mention should go to Andrew Wilson & Bill Taylor for their help on the day, thanks also to Mark Jones and his staff for the excellent hospitality and to Seaton Carew golf club for allowing us to use the course every year.

“This year we raised a grand total of £2,700.”

Carol Sennett, hospice corporate fundraiser, added: “Once again we are overwhelmed with the support shown by Hartlepool Beer and Wine Company.

“The fact that teams come back year after year to support Phil’s golf day is testament to his hard work and commitment to our charity. All the money raised from the event will go directly to towards caring for our patients and their families.”
