A RAIL firm has teamed up with the Hartlepool Mail to search for a community champion.
Grand Central Rail, which operates rail services from the North-East including Hartlepool, to London, has launched the Grand Central Heart of the Community Awards.
They recognise those people that have made contributions to the communities along the rail provider’s routes.
Those heroes could be from any walk of life, whether it’s raising money for good causes or volunteering for a local initiative.
Teaming up with the Hartlepool Mail, Grand Central is calling on the people of Hartlepool to nominate their unsung heroes.
And anyone who has a favourite that they would like to put forward has around four weeks to come forward.
The entries will be judged by Hartlepool Mail editor Joy Yates and Grand Central and the winner will receive a fantastic prize.
They can look forward to a pair of return train tickets to London as well as the chance to attend an awards ceremony along with other regional winners.
One winner along the North East Route will be selected at the awards ceremony to receive an overnight trip for four to London as well as a £500 donation from Grand Central, which will go to the charity of their choice.
Sean English, who is the general manager at Grand Central, said: “At Grand Central Rail, we pride ourselves on the close links we have with the communities along our routes. As the community rail company, we wanted to recognise those that have an impact on these localities and highlight those that, very often completely under the radar, are making a difference.”
Mr English added: “We are thrilled to announce our Heart of the Community Awards and look forward to discovering and rewarding those who are dedicated to bettering their local area.”
Entrants can email their nominations along with their name, age, telephone number and address to email@example.com using the title header Hartlepool Heart of the Community Awards.
The competition closes on Monday, July 14, and the winners will be selected by Monday, August 11. Terms and conditions can be found on the Grand Central Rail website at www.grandcentralrail.com.
