FLASH mobs and a prize giveaway are just some of the exciting methods a bus operator will use to encourage people to ditch their cars in favour of taking the bus.
Stagecoach, which runs services in Hartlepool, is joining forces with sustainable transport group Greener Journeys through the UK’s first-ever Catch The Bus Week, from Monday until May 5.
Throughout the week Stagecoach will highlight the environmental and financial benefits of using the bus more often through a series of activities
The firm is using flash mobs - groups of people who assemble in a public place and perform a random act - on May 2 in a top-secret location in Hartlepool and giving away gifts to passers-by to promote the event.
Stagecoach managing director Phil Medlicott said: “There are obvious environmental benefits of taking the bus instead of driving – but bus travel can also save people money and reduce the stress of driving and parking in busy towns and cities.”
