OFFICIALS at a historic Hartlepool attraction have renewed their appeal for potential sponsors to come forward.
The Heugh Battery wants to find backers to sponsor one of around 15 items of military history at the museum.
Battery volunteer Wally Stewart said the site “needs money on an annual basis” and sponsors would be welcome to fund a gun, an armoured personnel carrier or Chieftain tank.
It costs on average, £150 per year to maintain each piece of equipment.
Sponsors who agree to fund an item will have their logo and brief details of the company on a prominent board along side the item.
Wally added: “The Battery Trust, very keen for the Battery to become an important tourist attraction and to make it an exciting addition to the town, feel that it would be nice to have the town companies on board to assist us in our endeavours.
“We have a number of volunteers who work very hard to keep the battery in a tiptop condition and are always very satisfied to see the many visitors give their admiration for the condition of all of the exhibits.”
Any company or firm who is interested in becoming a sponsor should contact the Heugh Gun Battery museum on (01429) 270746.
