TEACHING assistant Roberta Blair was determined to be in the best shape possible for the five-kilometre run.
The English Martyrs RC School and Sixth Form College worker spent weeks in the Hartlepool school’s gym in preparation for the big day.
And she went a step further to back the cause. She donated money from sales at a school tuck shop to the cause and raised £60 – part of the overall £150 she estimates she has fundraised.
Roberta, 36, from the Owton Manor area, said: “It might have half killed me but I have been to the gym three times a week for weeks now.”
She ran the race in around 40 minutes and said: “It is such a good cause.”
Unfortunately, her mum Joanna Henry, who is her usual running partner, had to pull out of this year’s Race For Life with a foot infection.
