The votes are in and we can announce the winner of Hartlepool Mail Gym Of The Year 2016.

Since January we have asked you to vote for who you thought should be given the coveted crown of the best gym in the area.

We wanted you to take into consideration what it was that you thought gave your gym the edge, what lifted it above its rivals and gave you what you wanted.

And you did.

Thanks to the strength of this year’s entrants we’ve had hundreds of votes registered for the gyms that featured in the top 10.

But in the end there could be only one winner – JD Sports Domes Fitness Zone, in Seaton Carew.

In second place came Bodywise, in Crest House, Stockton Road, and in third place came Mill House Leisure Centre, in Raby Road.

Fitness Zone centre manager Mark Price was over the moon with the win.

“The JD Sports Domes Fitness Zone would like to thank our members for their support on winning the Gym Of The Year 2016,” he said.

“We are delighted to have won this prestigious competition, acknowledging the quality of many of the other gyms that have entered the Gym Of The Year.

“I would like to thank our staff for their hard work and professionalism in delivering excellent customer service. It has recently been our third birthday and each year the gym continues to successfully improve and grow as the premier fitness facility.

“The Fitness Zone boasts the very latest equipment with a TRX station, free weights and state-of-the-art Matrix cardiovascular and resistance machines.

“In addition to our fantastic gym, we host a popular boxing room and offer a full range of exercise classes including Spin Fit, Pilates and Boxercise, which are held in our impressive fully mirrored studio. Our facilities include a sunbed, sauna and steam room, where members can relax after their workout or finish with a coffee or juice in our spacious coffee lounge and bar.

“It is a vindication of our ethos at The JD Sports Domes, that customer service is paramount and that the public recognition in being voted as Gym Of The Year, only serves to emphasise that the Fitness Zone is the ideal place for both seasoned participants and casual exercisers.”

The Mail thanks all the gyms that participated and hope they all enter again next year to see if they can win in 2017.
