A FORMER Hartlepudlian is showing off her culinary skills – and her love for her place of birth – on a popular TV programme.

Jules Osmany is appearing as a contestant on Channel 4 cookery show Come Dine With Me this week.

The 50-year-old made her debut appearance last night when make-up artist Jules admits her Indian-Arabian inspired lamb tagine, pakora and kulfi dishes were “a burned disaster”.

In Friday’s show Jules takes along a H’Angus the Monkey mascot as a gift to a dinner party instead of the usual flowers or wine.

Jules grew up in Kesteven Road on the Fens estate and attended Fens Primary and Manor Comprehensive Schools and Cleveland College of Art and Design.

She left the town with her family, parents Stan and Gloria Stevenson (nee Morris) and brother Michael when she was 17 and she settled in Northampton, where this week’s show is set.

The mum-of-two said: “I’m very true to my roots and my accent has never changed.

“I had such a happy childhood in Hartlepool and have got some great memories.”

Come Dine With Me is on Channel 4 at 5.30pm on weekdays.
