A BUSY little park cafe has a bustling few weeks ahead for the people of Hartlepool to enjoy.

The Place in The Park, within the grounds of Ward Jackson Park, is kicking off the string of events with Halloween this week.

Staff at the popular eaterie have put cauldron-loads of effort into decorating the place with skeletons, mummies, witches, ghosts, and pumpkins ahead of three consecutive Halloween discos for school children.

The first spooky boogie night will be held on Thursday, October 30, then Friday, October 31, and then Saturday, November 1.

The memorable fun nights are for under 10s and include games, food, a disco and fancy dress contest with tickets priced at £5.50.

Cafe boss Maria Harrison said: “We’ve gone all out this year to decorate the coffee shop in a Halloween theme including lots of skeletons, mummies, witches and a gigantic witch’s colander, ghosts, and pumpkins.

“And all of this won’t just entertain the children - even the cakes have been decorated in a Halloween theme for the adults to enjoy.

“We’re hosting a Halloween Disco for under 10s over three nights which include lots of ghoulish freaky fun games, frightening food, disco and fancy dress competition.”

The cafe’s Friday night disco coincides with the Halloween Fright Night event , organised by The Friends of Ward Jackson Park, on Friday, October 31, from 6pm to 8pm when the park will be filled with ghosts, ghouls, and gruesome characters.

Then on Thursday, November 13, there will be A Clairvoyant Evening with psychic medium Peter Crawford in the cafe from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 and include a hot and cold buffet.

Then on Saturday, December 6, Santa’s Grotto opens from 12pm until 3pm with tickets costing £4.50. Tickets for all events are available from the cafe.
