Hartlepool biker seriously hurt in road smash

The incident, involving a Suzuki motorcycle and a grey Merecdes CL Class, happened round 4pm on July 17 on the A171 Guisborough to Whitby Road near Egton.

The two vehicles were ravelling in the same direction towards Guisborough, between the turn-offs to Egton and Aislaby, when they crashed.

The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from Hartlepool, sustained back and chest injuries and was airlifted to James Cook Hospital.

His injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Mercedes, a 38-year-old man from Stockton was uninjured.

The road was blocked and reopened at around 7pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash, to contact them.
