Hartlepool boss disappointed to be denied win at Wrexham

Craig Harrison said there was both pride and pain in the Pools camp after extending their unbeaten National League run to four games.

But the manager said there was frustration that they did not come away from a rainswept Racecourse Ground with maximum points.

Jonathan Franks hit the bar on the hour while Devante Rodney failed to convert a fantastic opening shortly afterwards.

“I think the players are happy with a clean sheet, that’s three in the last four games,” said Harrison.

“Clean sheets mean a lot to defenders and goalkeepers, but the lads are disappointed not to have won the game - we did enough to win it.

“It wasn’t a dominant performance like Maidstone, but we did enough to win it.

“We put some great balls across the box and had a good opening for Devante, Franksy hit the bar too and we have had some great dead-play delivery from Devs.

“Franksy has probably hit it too true and it’s come back off the bar and with Devante, I think he was surprised to get the ball there.

“It’s disappointing, but nice to feel disappointed coming to a big National League club like Wrexham and only getting a point.

“It’s pleasing that the players are disappointed, I don’t want people celebrating a point – we want to do better than that.”

The point moved Pools up to 17th and lifted confidence still further ahead of Saturday’s TV test at Leyton Orient.

“It’s a great point on the back of Saturday’s win over Dagenham,” said Harrison.
