A SNAP-HAPPY camera club is starting a string of new classes for budding photographers tomorrow.
Hartlepool Camera Club, which is based at The People’s Centre, in Raby Road, Hartlepool, is inviting budding snappers to join its existing register of 60 members with the start of a new six-week course.
And depending upon the uptake there is scope for further classes after the initial six.
Club bosses are kicking off the first class tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 1, with doors opening from 6.30pm, and they are hoping that a new wave of snappers will take up the opportunity.
Club bosses say they are particularly short of female photographers, but say that new male members are also very welcome.
Margaret Mills, club secretary, said: “We’ve got a thriving camera club with about 60 members. We’re about to start our beginners classes and we’d love to welcome some more members.
“We’re always on the look-out for more people to come along and enjoy what we do.”
She added: “The course is really good. It covers the basics of using your digital camera, composition, depth of field and other areas.
“We then go on to hold more advanced classes.”
Margaret said the club does have a number of cameras for beginners to use, but it is always more helpful if people can eventually get their own digital cameras.
The classes take place between 6.30pm and 9pm and once a £14 annual membership fee is paid there is no further charge for the sessions.
Margaret, who works closely with chairman Willa Laidler on the running of the camera club, said: “We are a very friendly informal club and we continue with classes right throughout the year.
“We invite guest speakers along, have competitions and outings.”
The minimum age is 16 years old up over –with the oldest member being in his 80s. For details telephone Willa on (01429) 296371 or Margaret on (01429) 686983.
