Hartlepool car club drivers enjoy successful day in Cumbria

Hartlepool and District Motor Club members enjoyed success at the recent West Cumbria Car Club 'Easter Bunny' Autotest held at Maryport.

Mark Nicholson driving his purpose-built “Scamp” came first overall, with club secretary Stuart Leighton coming third overall in his recently modified Nissan Micra.

Club chairman Phil Peek came in seventh place, following a “wrong direction” penalty, but managed a ‘first in class’ result in his road standard Mazda MX-5.

The crew set out on their 260-mile round trip at 6am. The event consisted of 17 driving tests around a pre-set course of cones.

Mr Nicholson said: “An excellent day out, well worth the drive over.

Hartlepool and District’s next event is an Autotest to be held on Sunday, April 17, at the Seaton Carew Coach Park.

All visitors are welcome to watch this free event, running from 10am to 3pm.
