The Mayor of Hartlepool, Coun Rob Cook, has chosen to support those charities during his year in office.

He said: “Brenda and I hope lots of people will attend this fantastic event, which is sure to be a night of enjoyment for music lovers of all ages.

“I’d also like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to both choirs for organising this special event and helping to raise money for two worthwhile causes.

“It will be a particularly special night for me as I’m actually a member of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir.

“However, on this occasion I’m going to sit back and enjoy being entertained.”

A range of popular songs, including The Impossible Dream, He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Lean On Me, will be performed by the choirs in the concert.

Hartlepool Male Voice Choir first formed in the late 1950s, and has performed in a number of prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Sheffield Arena and Durham Cathedral.

Hartlepool Ladies’ Choir has been hitting the high notes since 2002, with the wives of some members of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir responsible for the formation of the ladies’ group.
