Hartlepool company's summer ball raises £10,000 for autism charity

Rides in supercars, an auction with money-can’t buy prizes and stunning fireworks display gave guests a night to remember in JDR’s sixth annual summer ball at Hardwick Hall Hotel.

The money will help autism charity Daisy Chain to expand its support services in Hartlepool with the launch of a new activities club later this year.

JDR, a leading supplier of subsea power cables and umbilicals, chose Daisy Chain as its charity of the year. It brings the total amount the firm, owned by TFKable Group, has raised for charity to date to over £100,000.

Mandy Marriner, JDR marketing and events coordinator, said: “We nominated Daisy Chain as our chosen charity this year because of the vital work it does with children with autism.

“It gives them and their families support and advice as well as providing a haven where they can enjoy activities.

“For JDR to contribute to an additional centre here in our home town of Hartlepool is hugely rewarding.”

The Sporting Bears Motor Club offered rides in a fleet of cars including Ferrari and Lamborghini.

And there was an appearance by celebrity radio and TV host Steve Berry from Top Gear.

Holly Abbott, of Daisy Chain, said: “We couldn’t operate without our generous corporate supporters.

“With this support we can continue to extend our outreach services even further in Hartlepool with a new activities club for families affected by autism to access locally, without having to travel to our base in Norton.”
