Hartlepool dad and daughter recreate precious moment, 14 years on

Beer delivery driver Neil Simon, from Hartside Gardens, took a snap of himself and his daughter Lucie Simon touching noses 14 years after the original photograph was taken.

Neil, 40, said he was inspired by Hartlepool brothers, Aaron, Nathan and Eldon Myers, who recently recreated a cute bath photo from their childhood, which went viral this week.

He said: “It was just something I did on the spur of the moment.

“It was my daughter’s 20th birthday on March 19 and I was going through photos to make a Facebook Flipgram to commemorate her birthday, when I came across this one.

“It was one of my favourites and was taken by a good friend of ours, who is a professional photographer and used to use the family for projects.

“I just said did she fancy recreating the photo that night when we were popping out and we did it straight away on my phone.
I took it and put it into black and white.

“It was just on the spur of the moment and Lucie didn’t realise I was going to put it on Facebook, so when she saw, she said she should have done her hair!”

Neil said the original pic was included in a photo montage on Facebook for Lucie- a fashion journalism student at Sunderland University – to celebrate her special day.

“I like taking photos and doing things like that,” Neil added.

“I think I would like to do it in retirement, as I think I have an eye for photography.

“When I put the photo on Facebook the response was really good and people were saying it was nice to see the two photos next to each other.”
