A council-run school holiday club has lined up an action-packed week of activities during the October half term.
Oscars, based at West Hartlepool Rugby Club, in Catcote Road, has arranged a number of activities for children aged 3 to 16, from Monday, October 26, to Friday, October 30.
During the half-term break, parents can drop off their children from 8am to have breakfast, and then enjoy an action-packed day of fun and thrills prior to being collectedagain by 5.45pm.
A wide range of activities have been lined up for youngsters as Sandra Robinson, the council’s out of school coordinator, explains: “The team have put together a varied programme which includes fun with food, sports and games, film and toy day, plus visits to Summerhill and Burn Valley Gardens.
“We are going to round the week off with a Halloween Party when children will have the option to come in fancy dress and we’ll have some prizes for the best costumes.
“As a parent myself, I know how difficult it can be to balance working and looking after the children and, hopefully, Oscars exists to provide help and support to parents.
“The emphasis is always on fun at Oscars and parents can relax knowing that their children are enjoying themselves and are in safe hands.”
The service, which has been running for more than 20 years, has been hailed as “outstanding” by Ofsted inspectors.
Oscars also operates an after-school service which involves children being collected from school and taken to the Catcote Road centre where they take part in educational and fun activities, before being collected by 6pm. For details, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07771 936968.
