Hospice bosses are hoping an annual fundraiser will be a knockout.
Fundraisers for Hartlepool & District Hospice are preparing for another day of wet and wacky games at this year’s fifth annual It’s a Knockout and Family Fun Day, which takes place on July 9 at Hartlepool Rugby Club (Old Boys).
The popular fundraising event, sponsored by hospice partners Seymour Civil Engineering for the second consecutive year, has grown to become one of the charity’s biggest days of the year.
The games will be hosted by Graham Fisher’s International It’s a Knockout, a specialist company which started out using ex-BBC props and has a long-standing relationship with the hospice.
Teams of between six to 10 people can take part in the competition, and players must be aged over 16 (or 14/15 with a parental consent form, available from the hospice upon request).
It costs £10 per player to register and teams are asked to raise £500 in sponsorship. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to the top teams on the day.
A Family Fun Day will run alongside the event and there will be attractions for all the family, including food and drink, stalls to browse, children’s rides, raffles, tombola and other games.
Greg Hildreth, from the hospice, said: “We are expecting the usual fun with the games and are hoping for our biggest competition to date, with interest from a lot of teams already. I would encourage anyone thinking of signing up to do so soon while places are still available.”
