Generous staff and customers at Matalan have raised more than £5,000 for the Hartlepool & District Hospice.
Hospice fundraisers were thrilled to receive a huge donation from their local Matalan store, which has a charity partnership with the hospice.
The donation of £5,041 was raised last year by the staff and customers of the store, at Anchor Retail Park, in Marina Way, through collection boxes, raffles and the sale of hospice calendars.
The dedicated staff at the branch also took part in their own It’s a Knockout competition to raise the vital hospice funds.
The hospice remains one of the store’s chosen charities and both organisations are confident that this success will continue into the future.
Based in Wells Avenue, Hartlepool, the hospice is a registered charity offering specialist palliative care to hundreds of adults from Hartlepool and East Durham each year. Store manager Gail Burns said she was delighted with the fundraising total and thanked the staff and customers for their support.
She said: “There is a lot of warmth towards the Hospice from both our staff and customers who show such incredible support and have helped us reach this amazing total.
“We’re proud to help such a vital local charity and would like to thank everyone who has contributed.”
Hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth added: “We are delighted with the success of our partnership with Matalan – their staff and customers are unstinting in their generosity and warmth towards our work.
“On behalf of everyone at the hospice, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for such kindness. Every penny donated will be used to care for patients and families who are affected by incurable illnesses.”
