Hartlepool lifeboat crews called out after two people go missing and speedboat runs aground

Lifeboat crews in Hartlepool were called out to two different incidents yesterday.

The town's RNLI volunteer crew were paged at 3.15pm by Humber Coastguard to assist a 24ft speedboat with three people on board that had ran aground on Middleton beach.

The boat was towed to a Hartlepool Marina slipway and recovered.

The inshore lifeboat returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station at 4.10pm and was made ready for service by 4.30pm.

Later in the afternoon, both Hartlepool RNLI lifeboats with were launched at 6.21pm by Humber Coastguard to assist the emergency services to search the shoreline for two missing people in the Blackhall Rocks beach area.

Both lifeboats were stood down at 6.50pm when the two missing people were found.

Both lifeboats returned to the Ferry Road boathouse at 7.00pm and were refuelled and made ready for service by 7.20pm
