Visitors to Middleton Grange Shopping Centre were treated to the sensational sounds of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir when they performed at the centre.
Shoppers gathered to hear 50 of the choir’s members give two rousing 30-minute performances, which included a spine-tingling rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and This Nearly Was Mine from the musical film South Pacific.
The choir was in the centre to promote its upcoming Summer Celebrity Concert with Aled Jones on June 17 at Hartlepool Borough Hall.
David Gibson, musical director of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, said: “It’s an honour for us to be performing with Aled next month.
“It’s set to be an unmissable event so we wanted to give the people of Hartlepool a taster of what’s to come.
“The crowd at Middleton Grange were fantastic and we loved seeing so many different generations coming together to enjoy the songs.”
The choir also used the occasion to collect money for its chosen charity Alice House Hospice.
“We’d also like to thank everyone for their kind donations in support of the charity,” added David.
“It is the only adult hospice in Hartlepool and East Durham so these funds really are essential for it to continue its great work supporting local families.”
Middleton Grange manager Mark Rycraft said: “Having one of the North East’s finest singing ensembles fill the centre with their incredible harmonies literally made people stop in their tracks.
“The performances were superb and really set the tone for the rest of the day.”
