MAYOR of Hartlepool Stephen Akers-Belcher has been involved in a crash.
The collision happened in Grange Road, Hartlepool, near to the junction with Mulgrave Road, around 10.35am today, between a Ford Focus and a BMW car.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene.
The mayor did not suffer any injuries and was seen stood talking to police officers.
His partner Christopher Akers-Belcher attended the scene, as did Councillor Majorie James, fellow Manor House ward representative.
No one else was injured in the accident.
A spokesman for Hartlepool Borough Council confirmed the Mayor had been involved.
He said: “We can confirm that the Mayor was involved in a collision and we are pleased to report that he is okay.”
A spokeswoman for Clevelabd Police said: “This was a minor collision and there were no injuries to the people involved.
“It looked a lot worse than it actually was.”
