Hartlepool photographer is on board for loco trust

Hartlepool-based landscape photographer Trevor Camp's images of steam locomotives have caught the eye of the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust.

His passion for steam train photography has resulted in the Trust approaching him to become their official photographer.

The locomotive is undergoing a three-year major overhaul at the National Railway Museum in York.

The Trust wants the work photographically documented, and Trevor had no hesitation in accepting the project.

Sir Nigel is a world record holder. It holds the post war speed record of 112mph which was attained in 1959.

The locomotive usually runs on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway between Grosmont and Pickering but was taken out of service in September last year and moved to York for the overhaul, which will include a re-certification of the boiler for a further 10 years of service.

It is hoped the £750,000 overhaul will be completed before the end of the decade and that the locomotive will be returned to mainline operation.

Trevor said: “Being a landscape photographer you appreciate the full composition and not just the principal feature so I am endeavouring to apply this concept here and create something special for this iconic and historic locomotive, I like to think Sir Nigel would have approved.”
