Pupils at a Hartlepool school marked themselves out as stars of the future as they produced a memorable performance.
Manor Community Academy, based on Owton Manor Lane, held its annual musical last week.
It was based on Broadway production Annie, and children from Years 7 to 11 took part.
The show was almost sold-out for all three nights it was on, and some of the performances left the audience blown away.
Ellie Hopwood, curriculum leader for creative and performing arts at Manor, said: “It was absolutely fantastic.
“A lot of people said it was the best we’ve ever done. We tend to get that every year, but it is nice to hear it.

“There were some absolutely amazing performances.
“The audiences absolutely loved it, and gave a standing ovation every night.”
Manor holds a musical every year, and Mrs Hopwood was extremely impressed with this year’s cast.
She added: “They were a lovely cast to work with and all worked extremely hard, which bodes well for the future.
“Many of them will work professionally if they want to.
“They all gave up their own time and didn’t miss any lessons as part of this.
“We started rehearsing in September, and rehearsed a couple of times after school each week.
“We did it in the same period a professional production would.”
