A pretty Hartlepool youngster has brought a beauty crown back to the town.
Sommer Goldsbrough, 15, beat the opposition to take the title of Miss Teen British Isles 2016 in a two-day final in Liverpool.
The youngster, a Year 10 pupil at English Martyrs School, wowed the judges at the event, which took place at The Hilton Hotel.
The teenager’s proud mum, Kim Goldsbrough, 46, said it was an amazing feeling when her daughter took the title.
Mum-of-two, Kim, who lives in Hartlepool’s Relton Way, said: “It was nerve-wracking because there were five placements and every time she didn’t get placed, I was thinking she hadn’t got anywhere.
“But, when they read her name out at first place it was amazing. I was totally in shock, but obviously over the moon.
“I was crying, but Sommer was just so excited to have won, she was really, really pleased.”
Kim said Sommer had to take part in interviews, do a photo shoot and then three sections on the catwalk ahead of the winners being announced.
There were 32 other girls from across Great Britain and Kim said it was very stiff competition because all the girls were very pretty.
The delighted mum said: “All the girls were lovely, it was really tough competition.
“Sommer had a fantastic time and she made some really good friends who were so supportive when she won, and she hopes to keep in touch with them.”
The teen was automatically placed into the Miss Teen British Isles 2016 competition after winning the Miss Teen Alba model contest.
Although she is hoping to pursue her dream of becoming a model, Sommer also plans to study hard and has her sights set on a career in engineering.
Kim said this was the first major competition Sommer, who was sponsored by Hartlepool company Alan’s Discotech, had taken part in and to win it was fantastic.
She said her daughter, who is a keen dancer and likes to read, got the pageant bug when she was about 12 and took part in a local carnival competition, clinching second place.
Kim said: “She is very, very focussed and knows what she wants and how to do it.”
Sommer will shortly be having an interview with a regional modelling agency, Tyne Tees Models, with the hope of being signed up by them.
