Proud mum Barbara, 41, said the success may not end there either. “It puts her in good stead for future opportunities with other agencies as well.”

Amelia reached the national finals by winning the Junior Miss County Durham East section and it was the ideal win for her, said her mum.

Barbara said: “She always wanted to go into modelling and has had opportunities but she did not want to do that during school hours.”

Determined Amelia is totally committed to her education and has a 100 per cent attendance rate at school.

Barbara, who said Amelia has been sponsored by K2B of Park Road in Hartlepool, added; “She will not miss any of her schooling and it has put her off competitions in the past but this came up and it does not interfere with her schooling.”

Barbara, who is also mum to Amelia’s ten-year-old brother Cameron, runs the Hartlepool Blind Welfare organisation in Avenue Road in the town, .

Now comes the national stage at a hotel in Chester and Barbara explained more of how the competition will take place.
